• The S101 is the brand name of guitars made by the American Sejung Corp, who typically makes instruments for OEM branding. They used to make instruments for the Epiphone brand, in the 2007-2010 time frame.   I don't believe they make guitars any longer as they were always primarily a piano manufacturer.
  
  As a Les Paul Epiphone is to a Gibson Les Paul, the S101 Strat Style guitar is similar to a Chinese or Japanese made Fender Stratocaster compared to an American Stratocaster.
  
  This guitar is very well made and plays very nicely in tune.  It has been set up to a high standard.  The action could go a bit lower, but that is a matter of personal taste.
  
  I have taken the time to polish up the guitar and while it does have a few blemishes and flaws, it's in very nice condition.
  
  Full disclosure: The 5-way switch has that idiosyncrasy of of shorting between the bridge/middle setting and bridge setting (when set to bridge/middle).  With a slight pushing of the switch, you can get that Hendrix effect of changing between the two sounds (while bending a note from high to low).  I kinda like the ability to do this, but some may disagree.
  
  I don't think there is a better deal for the price.  (Now even lower!)
